For The Men

August 26, 2019 - Rhys Branman, MD

Moustache of Hope Although I do not do this particular procedure at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery Center, I found this trend interesting. Although I am a little late recognizing it, I was also interested in the charity organization called Movember that is becoming a worldwide movement. Just as there is a National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, men have seized November for prostate cancer awareness. Movember is the month men grow moustaches to raise money and promote awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.

The new trend for men seems to be the mustache implant! In the Arab world a moustache is a sign indicative of the wisdom that comes with maturity. Throughout history in the Middle East, moustache’s were symbols of honor. In Mediterranean areas, such a Crete a moustache was a sign of manhood, and of course the Chinese also considered moustaches a sign of wisdom. Witness the long moustache of Confucius.

The procedure of moustache implanting is in demand in the Arab world among the 30 – 50 set. Using the technique called ” follicular unit extraction,” surgeons who perform this procedure take clumps of hair from dense areas of growth and transplant them to create a moustache!

More and more men are seeking cosmetic surgery from BOTOX®, to male breast reduction, to liposuction at Little Rock Cosmetic Surgery . . . and apparently this new trend has begun! So remember to grow your moustache next year!
