When Is the Soonest You Can Get a Botox or Filler “Touch-Up”?
January 20, 2026 - Rhys Branman, MD
Have you recently had Botox or dermal fillers and are wondering whether a little touch-up might be needed? At Cosmetic Surgery Center & Exhale Med Spa in Little Rock, our experienced injector Leslie H. Branman, BSN, RN, CPSN, CANS often fine-tunes her patients’ results or corrects a subtle asymmetry after treatment.
So, how soon is too soon to get a touch-up? Here, we break down when to consider a follow-up and what factors determine the right timing for both Botox and filler adjustments.
What Is a “Touch-Up”?
A touch-up is a targeted follow-up appointment that allows your injector to refine your initial results. This might involve:
- Smoothing out muscle activity that persists after Botox
- Adding a small amount of filler to improve balance or volume
- Correcting mild irregularities that become apparent once swelling has subsided
Touch-ups are perfectly normal, especially for first-time patients. Our injector takes a light-handed, artistic approach during your first visit to avoid overcorrection. Once your results have settled, a conservative touch-up can help achieve an even more polished, natural-looking result.
How Soon Can I Get a Botox Touch-Up?
Botox results take a little time to develop. While you may start noticing changes within 3 to 5 days, the full smoothing effect typically takes 10 to 14 days.
It’s important to wait the full two weeks before evaluating whether a touch-up is needed. Treating too early may lead to:
- Over-relaxing muscles
- Imbalance in facial movement
- Unintended spread of the product
Once the Botox has fully settled, our injector can assess whether additional units are needed to achieve your desired result.

How Soon Can I Get a Filler Touch-Up?
Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® work by adding volume to the soft tissues, and they often involve a bit of swelling or bruising in the days following treatment.
That’s why we recommend waiting 10 to 14 days at the very least—sometimes up to 3 weeks—before considering a filler touch-up. This gives your body time to fully integrate the product and allows any post-treatment swelling to subside.
Although it can be tempting, touching up filler too early can lead to:
- Overfilled or puffy results
- Product migration
- Prolonged swelling or uneven texture
Once everything settles, our injector will reassess your results and discuss any refinements needed to enhance symmetry or volume.
Carefully timing your touch-up allows injectables to settle so that any refinements enhance (not diminish) your final results.
What If I Notice Asymmetry?
It’s common to be hyper-aware of your face after a cosmetic treatment. Keep in mind that mild facial asymmetry is completely normal and often becomes more noticeable before your final result appears.
Still, if something doesn’t look quite right after 2-3 weeks, we encourage you to schedule a follow-up. Our injector carefully evaluates the area and lets you know whether a touch-up is appropriate or if your result simply needs more time to develop.

Can I Avoid Needing a Touch-Up?
Touch-ups are sometimes part of the process, especially when starting Botox or trying filler in a new area. That said, working with an experienced injector greatly reduces the likelihood that one will be necessary.
At Cosmetic Surgery Center & Exhale Med Spa, our aesthetic team takes a highly customized, conservative approach to every treatment so that we enhance your natural features with precision and care for results that are balanced, subtle, and uniquely you.

Do touch-up treatments cost less?
Botox touch-ups are typically priced by the unit, so your cost will depend on how much product is used. Dermal filler touch-ups may require part of a new syringe, which is also priced based on product type and amount.
We always aim to be transparent about pricing and will discuss all costs with you in advance to achieve the best outcome within your treatment plan and budget.
