- Is there downtime after a Micropeel?
What is a Micropeel?
The Micropeel is a pharmaceutical-grade chemical peel that combines the exfoliating power of microdermabrasion with a chemical peel resurfacing treatment. As a physical exfoliant, microdermabrasion softens the appearance of the skin by removing dead surface skin cells and clearing debris from your pores.
After this process, the chemical peel is applied to achieve a deeper exfoliation, which expedites the shedding of those dead skin cells and clarifies the skin.
What can a Micropeel treat?
In addition to improving the overall health and appearance of your skin, a Micropeel can also treat specific concerns. While the results you achieve will depend on how many treatments you have and how often you have them, Micropeels are a fantastic option to:
- Brighten skin
- Improve skin texture
- Balance skin tone
- Smooth fine lines
- Reduce hyperpigmentation and sun or age spots
We typically recommend a series of treatments spaced no more than one month apart to get the most dramatic improvement. After examining your skin and listening to your primary concerns and goals during consultation, we’ll recommend a treatment protocol for you.
Is a Micropeel right for me?
One of the great things about the Micropeel is that it is safe for all skin types! Because the primary function of the Micropeel is to rid your skin of dead skin cells, excess oils, and congestion in the pores, we believe nearly anyone can benefit from this treatment. As long as you are able to follow aftercare instructions and avoid sun exposure a Micropeel is a great way to quickly refresh your skin without the side effects of deeper chemical peels.
We’ll help you explore all of your options during your skin evaluation and consultation to make sure you are receiving the most appropriate treatment for your needs and skin type.
Do Micropeels hurt?
Your Micropeel should take only around 30 minutes, and most patients report that the process is relatively comfortable. It’s normal to experience a mild burning, itching, or tingling sensation when the chemical peel is applied, but these shouldn’t last long.
After treatment, you may experience some residual tenderness that is easily alleviated with the application of ice and an approved moisturizer.
Is there downtime after a Micropeel?
Most patients can resume their day after treatment, but this will depend on your personal comfort level. As long as you wear sun protection and are comfortable with any pinkness or very slight peeling, there is nothing to keep you down after a Micropeel.
After your treatment, we will provide you with specific aftercare instructions, which will include frequent moisturization of the treated skin with an approved cream.
