People in the cosmetic surgery industry have labeled Sculptra ‘the liquid facelift’ because it can effectively fill and volumize facial tissues.
During the aging process, volume in the skin often decreases, causing depressions, folds, and deep wrinkles in the face and elsewhere. Like other dermal fillers, Sculptra is used to restore volume and fill wrinkles and folds.
What is Sculptra Aesthetic?
Sculptra has a unique poly-L-lactic acid composition that lasts longer than many of the other fillers on the market. The Poly-L-lactic acid is a safe, synthetic, biocompatible material that has been used in cosmetic applications outside the United States since the late ‘90s.
Sculptra was originally introduced to the market as a treatment for the loss of facial fat in persons with HIV. In July 2009, Sculptra was given FDA clearance for cosmetic purposes.
We use Sculptra to treat a variety of cosmetic imperfections:
- Shallow to deep nasolabial folds (smile lines)
- Sunken cheeks
- Sunken temples
- Other facial wrinkles/folds
Sculptra Aesthetic Results
The cosmetic results of Sculptra are very natural, appearing gradually in the weeks following treatment. Because of its composition and the fact that it stimulates collagen production, the results of Sculptra can last two years or more. A recent study of patients treated with Sculptra documented results lasting over 25 months.
