Restylane

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler used for soft tissue augmentation and the correction of facial wrinkles, creases, and folds. 

Composed of crystal-clear, biodegradable non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid gel, Restylane is injected into the dermis in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous, producing a long-lasting, safe, and natural enhancement.

Since it was launched in 1996, Restylane has undergone extensive histological and clinical studies with an increasing body of evidence relating to its ease of use, tolerability and effectiveness. Today, more than one million treatments have been successfully performed all over the world. 

How does Restylane correct facial wrinkles?

Restylane uses a duel mechanism of action to correct wrinkles and folds.

  • Upon being injected beneath the skin’s surface, the hyaluronic acid gel adds natural volume and lift to smooth facial wrinkles and folds.
  • The gel integrates into dermal tissue then attracts and binds to water molecules to help maintain volume.

Restylane Treatment Indications

Restylane is FDA approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, the lines between the nose and mouth.

Results of Restylane

In a randomized, double-blind clinical trial, Restylane showed a statistically significant difference over bovine collagen (56.9 percent versus 9.5 percent, respectively) with respect to change from baseline, when used to correct nasolabial folds. In addition, these results were sustained more than six months, significantly longer than collagen.

Restylane Safety

Restylane is biocompatible and biodegradable since it is made of hyaluronic acid, which naturally exists in the human body. Since 1996, physicians in over one million procedures, in over 60 countries, have used Restylane.  In clinical studies, the most commonly reported adverse events were redness and swelling, which typically occurred at the injection site and were transient and mild to moderate in intensity.

After Restylane Treatment

Over time, Restylane is gradually degraded and absorbed by the body’s own mechanism and disappears with out any residue.
