Permanent makeup is a safe, inexpensive method of either enhancing a person’s appearance, or camouflaging certain medical conditions. Through the use of micropigmentation – essentially tattooing – we can provide a permanently enhanced look to your eyes, lips, or other areas.
The art of tattooing has been practiced for thousands of years, and now that it’s under the supervision of physicians, you can expect a more precise and attractive result – with a greatly reduced risk of infection. We use nontoxic, non-allergenic pigments that get implanted intradermally using a specially modified medical tattooing machine. Permanent makeup colors may include white, red, black, yellow, light brown, and dark brown. A specific shade can be created for you by mixing various pigment powders prior to the procedure.
The Permanent Makeup Procedure
During the procedure, the treated area gets stretched with the thumb and index finger as the pigmentation is implanted. The tattoo device travels in repeated vertical movements with the needles pressed against your skin. Local anesthesia can be used during the procedure and antibiotics may be prescribed afterwards. Patients often choose to have a small ‘touch up’ at first and then come back in 4-6 weeks for a follow up procedure.
Where Can I Apply Permanent Makeup?
Permanent makeup is performed for cosmetic purposes such as the following:
- Coloring the base of the eyelashes for a permanent eyeliner
- Enhancement of eyebrows
- Reconstruction of the nipple-areola
- Scar camouflaging
Permanent makeup has many possible cosmetic and reconstructive applications besides those listed above. At the office of Dr. Branman, we want our patients to get a highly satisfying result, so we take all necessary safety precautions and perform micropigmentation with the utmost precision.
