Micro Laser Peel™ and Full Face Resurfacing

Sciton Micro Laser Peels

Micro Laser Peels done with the Sciton laser are extraordinarily precise. They remove the surface skin layer, the epidermis, to give you newly grown skin that will transform your appearance. This Micro Peel can treat a wide variety of skin conditions, such as:

  • Fine wrinkles
  • Scars from old injuries
  • Acne scars
  • Sagging skin
  • Uneven pigmentation, such as age spots
  • Blotchiness

The micro peel is intermediate in depth of treatment between microdermabrasion and full laser skin resurfacing.

The procedure

Your treatment will be customized to your particular skin type and conditions. First we'll apply a topical anesthetic and leave it for a while to numb your skin well. The treatment itself takes about 20 or 30 minutes, depending on what needs to be done. There'll be some redness afterwards, perhaps for three or four days, and then impressive results will begin to show. For several months you can watch your skin grow younger each day!

The Sciton Micro Peel can be repeated every month or two, but even one single treatment will amaze you with its results. It makes a good weekend treatment, as you can have it done on Thursday or Friday, and be back in action on Monday.

Full face resurfacing

Smooth, youthful-looking skin is one of the most highly-valued personal features in our society, and can easily offset other minor defects in your appearance. Luckily, it's possible to rejuvenate your skin in many ways, thanks to sophisticated modern cosmetic surgery equipment like lasers.<

If you would like to take anywhere from five to fifteen years off your facial appearance, a full face resurfacing with the Sciton laser would be a good choice. This is a more dramatic treatment than a Micro Peel and will require a few days, perhaps a week, of recovery time.

Skin resurfacing works by removing the topmost layer of skin, the epidermis, thus stimulating the next layer, the dermis, to regrow that top layer. When it regrows, it's composed of new skin cells, and has a smoother, more fresh and youthful look to it, giving you a new lease on life

The procedure

Like dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing removes that damaged skin surface and stimulates the growth of a new one. By this means, fine lines and wrinkles, scars, blotches, and even pre-cancerous lesions can be removed, or at least enormously reduced.

Dr. Branham will do this procedure for you, and will first discuss the type of anesthetic you'd prefer to have. You can have a local anesthetic, and can also have a mild sedative to relax you, if you're feeling anxious. When you're settled and comfortable, the Sciton laser beam is used to very precisely vaporize the top layer of skin, at a customized and pre-determined depth.

When the treatment is finished, special ointment and a bandage will be applied, to keep your skin moist while the new skin grows. Be sure and follow Dr. Branman's post-op instructions carefully, as you will want to avoid infection and unnecessary discomfort. At first your skin will feel as if it's mildly sunburnt, and will look red, but this will fade over a few days or a week. You can use a cooling pack over the dressings if you like. You may also have a medication to take.
